Jeff Alguire (Scenic/Properties Designer)
Jeff has been there and done that.
JJ Bauer (Stage Manager/Dramaturg)
JJ is delighted to be working again with longtime friends at Redbird Theater Company. She has been a stage manager, props manager, costume designer, set designer and completely unwilling actor for various area theater companies, including Deep Dish Theater, Ghost and Spice Productions, NC State Theatrefest, The Open Door Theatre, Street Signs Center for Literature and Performance, and Wordshed Productions.
Veronica Dress (Intimacy Director)
Veronica (she/her) is thrilled to support the cast of EUREKA DAY as their Intimacy Director. Founder of The Dress Rehearsal, a sexuality education and coaching practice, Veronica is passionate about creating consent-forward creative spaces that support the art of physical storytelling. You can find her working on productions around the Triangle.
Hannah J. Haverkamp (Costume Designer)
Hannah is a Minnesota-born costume designer and freelance illustrator, and teaches costume design and construction at Duke University. She holds an MFA in Costume Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has designed for theater, opera, and independent film. This is her first design for RedBird.
Hope Hynes Love (Director)
Hope is a National Board certified theater educator who has been working in the Triangle for the past thirty years. Currently the Artistic Director at East Chapel Hill High School (eastreservations), she held the same position at C.E. Jordan High since 1996. She has appeared as an actress with Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern, Burning Coal Theatre, Shakespeare & Originals, and Deep Dish Theater. Hope has directed for Peace College and BOY GETS GIRL for Deep Dish Theater, as well as the regional premiere of Mac Roger’s UNIVERSAL ROBOTS.
Rasool Jahan (Carina)
Rasool received her B.A. in Theatre from Shaw University, North Carolina’s oldest HBCU. She has been a working professional actor on stage, film and TV for over 30 years on both the East and West Coasts. Some of her favorite stage credits include: Tedra in FAT HAM, PlayMakers Rep., Esther in INTIMATE APPAREL, PlayMakers Rep., Vivian Bearing, Ph.D in WIT, JTP. TV/Film: THE RESIDENT, HOUSE OF CARDS, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER and COLD MOUNTAIN. She can also be seen on Hulu’s limited series, CLASS OF '09. She is a director and social justice activist, currently helping black farmers work their land. Rasool is a Board Member of Hidden Voices, a co-creative collective curated to lift the voices of marginalized communitIes. She lives in Durham, North Carolina.
Alex Maness (Sound/Video Designer)
Alex is a photographer, filmmaker, and projection designer living in Durham. A graduate of Syracuse University, he strives to use still images and video in non-traditional ways. He is a past staff photographer for The Independent Weekly newspaper and is a co-conspirator at Shadowbox studio.
Projection design for theater includes RAGTIME, NATIVE SON, THE EDGES OF TIME, and HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEARNED (Playmakers), THE LARAMIE PROJECT, DANCING AT LUGHNASA (Duke Theater Studies), DONALD, JADE CITY CHRONICLES, TARANTINO'S YELLOW SPEEDO, AND THE ASS SAW THE ANGEL, THE EMOTIONS OF NORMAL PEOPLE, HUNCHBACK, (Little Green Pig Theatrical Concern). WAKEY, WAKEY (ManBites Dog). IN AN INTERROGATIVE MOOD (UNC- The Performance Collective). Projection design for dance includes collaborations with choreographer Justin Tornow: ECHO, NO.19/MODULATIONS, SHOW, and Culture Mill/ADF: THEY ARE ALL. Projection design for visual art includes collaborations with artist Heather Gordon: CINNABAR (NCMA), AND THEN THE SUN SWALLOWED ME (CAM Raleigh)
Vanessa "Ness" Nowik (Meiko)
Ness recently returned from teaching in South Korea and is excited to be performing in her first RedBird Theater Company play this Spring! Ness made her performance debut in Asheville Community Theatre's production of AVENUE Q as Christmas Eve. Other theatrical credits include her roles as Gertrude McFuzz in SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL, Marty Maraschino in GREASE, Casey Clark in FIRST DATE and most recently, Julia Sullivan in the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre's production of THE WEDDING SINGER. Her fervent love of music also includes choral ensemble singing, providing notable performance experiences at local festival events, Disney World, and the White House, Washington DC. Off stage, she enjoys the simple joys of life like spending time with her family, friends, and best fur-end, Bug! Ness is thrilled to share the stage with the Triangle’s most talented performers! As always, thanks mom, dad, and Michael for your endless love and support!
Nick Popio (Eli)
Nick is thrilled to be in his first RedBird production with such an incredible group of actors and crew. Nick has worked with theater companies across the Triangle, and other favorite roles include Jack Manningham in ANGEL STREET and Jack Worthing in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEIN' EARNEST with Southern Wake Players, Colonel Mustard in CLUE and George Bailey in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A RADIO PLAY with Cary Players, Mastiff in THE MOORS with ManBites Dog, Nancy in SPACE GIRL with Women’s Theatre Festival, and Betty/Edward in CLOUD 9 with Tiny Engine. He would like to give special thanks to his sweet fiancé, Bridget.
Jeri Lynn Schulke (Suzanne)
Jeri Lynn Schulke is an actor, director, producer and co-founder of RedBird Theater Company. She received her MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BA in Theatre Performance from the University of Iowa. Jeri Lynn has appeared in productions throughout the Triangle most recently in THE GIRLFRIENDS' GUIDE TO THE WHITE HOUSE, A DOLL'S HOUSE PART 2, THE WOOLGATHERER (RedBird), Favorites include: OH! WHAT A LOVELY WAR, EURYDICE, ALL THE KING'S MEN, ORSON'S SHADOW, LOBBY HERO, PRIVATE EYES, and THE WOLVES. Recent directing credits include: APPROPRIATE, ART, SPRING AWAKENING, Kate Hamill’s PRIDE & PREJUDICE, SMALL MOUTH SOUNDS, THE TAMING, and BONNIE AND CLYDE.
Jonathan Spector (Playwright)
Jonathan's work has been produced on and off Broadway, regionally, and internationally. His plays include EUREKA DAY (Tony Award Nom., Drama League Nom., NY Critics Circle Award Nom., WhatsOnStage Award Nom., NYT Critics's Pick, Glickman Award, Bay Area Theater Critics Circle Award, Theater Bay Area Award, Rella Lossy Award); THIS MUCH I KNOW (Edgerton Award, Glickman Award, Bay Area Theater Critics Circle Award); BIRTHRIGHT; BEST AVAILABLE; and SIESTA KEY. His plays have been produced at theaters including Manhattan Theater Club, The Old Vic/Sonia Friedman Productions, Aurora Theater, Hampstead Theater, Theater J, Miami New Drama, Asolo Rep, Syracuse Stage, InterAct, Shotgun Players, Mosaic Theater, Colt Coeur, Just Theater, the State Theater of South Australia and Burg Theater (The National Theater of Austria). Jonathan is a graduate of the much-besieged New College of Florida and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State. In his misspent youth as an aspiring director in New York City during the early aughts, he was a member of the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, a frequent collaborator with The Civilians, and a dealer at New York's largest underground poker club. He is represented by CAA and Kaplan/Perrone entertainment.
Adam Traylor (Don)
Adam is thrilled to return to the Chapel Hill theatre scene with RedBird Theater Company’s production of EUREKA DAY. A seasoned actor, director, and educator, Adam holds both an M.F.A. and B.F.A. in Theatre and has performed in regional theatres across the country. Favorite roles include El Gallo (THE FANTASTICKS), Richard the Lionheart (THE LION IN WINTER), Selsdon Mowbray (NOISES OFF!), Brad Majors (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW), and Sheriff Reynolds (BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL). In addition to acting, Adam has directed a range of productions, such as A RAISIN IN THE SUN, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, DEATHTRAP, and TOP GIRLS. Adam also served in key production roles at companies including The Alley Theatre in Houston, the Santa Fe Opera, and Temple Theatre in Sanford. He has also taught at North Carolina Wesleyan College, Southern Arkansas University, and others, where he’s helped train the next generation of artists. Adam currently works in CyberSecurity, but is excited to rejoin the vibrant Triangle theatre community and looks forward to more opportunities to collaborate as both an actor and director in future productions.
